EXAMPLES YOU CAN ADAPT

Start with your own life.

Our examples are starting points, not a description of every household or a checklist everyone must follow. A useful idea should fit the person, their wishes, the resources available and local arrangements.

Different homes. Different possibilities.

Scenarios may include shared or separate homes, regular or uncertain work, help from relatives or neighbours, limited money or data, shared phones, interrupted electricity and varied local services. Getting somewhere might mean walking, public transport, a lift or a private car. These are some examples—not a complete list, and not assumptions about everyone in a country or region.

Choose one useful thing to try

Ask: does this fit our situation? What would need changing? Whose agreement or help is needed? Reflect quietly, discuss a fictional example or write a few private notes. Ordinary paper is enough. Writing down useful agreements can help people remember them, but personal worksheets do not need uploading.

Respect people and recognise limits

Support the older person’s choices and dignity. Give learning with appreciation for the person already doing their best. Some situations need individual professional advice, hands-on training or suitable local help; a general course cannot provide those assessments.
